Categories: Music, Television

Grammyperformers_l Grammy nominees Kenny Chesney, Coldplay, the Jonas Brothers, Lil Wayne, and Katy Perry are confirmed to perform at the 51st annual Grammy Awards ceremony on Feb. 8 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The show will air on CBS that same night from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Additional performers will be announced in the coming weeks and I'll be sure to keep you posted. In the meantime, take a look at the list of nominees in most of the major categories and let me know who you would (or wouldn't) like to see rock the mic that night. I'm rooting for Alicia Keys and Pink. They always turn it out!

and talent. and they got more money then all you[:, and they all deserve to be in the grammys.

and Joe Jonas is cute

I am not sure how the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, and other Disney musical artists get so much publicity let alone get asked to perform at the Grammy's. I know the young kids think they are great but I can't image any adults listening to or buying there music. I think they are all horrible.

dave Tue, Jan 20, 2009 at 02:17 AM EST

I'm glad Coldplay is performing.
Other nominees I would like to see perform include Radiohead, M.I.A., Duffy, Gnarls Barkley, Daft Punk, The Raconteurs, Metallica, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, and Jay-Z. Yes, I have varied tastes in music.
I'm changing the channel when Katy Perry and the Jonas Brothers perform. They suck.

The Jonas Brothers. This crap pretty much sums up the state of the music industry. Who the hell over the age of 12 is listening to this crap, or even think they are worthy of singing on live tv? That crap they call music makes my ears want to vomit.

Ew!! Jonas Brothers. I really don't know why people don't boo them. At the golden globes they thought they were rockin', but nobody cared or gived a sh*t. They were just unfunny and uncofortable.People were screaming with they eyes: GET OFF THE STAGE. I think they notice.

hahahahahaha

Poor thing they think they gonna win a Golden Globe some day. For What ?? J.o.n.a.s ??

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Like the New Kids on the block, they'll be gone by 2010, 2011 (or sooner). When they leave disney. they'll be over. disney knows how to marketing *bad music*. Look Hilary Duff, she left disny, and nobody gives a sh*t to her... her greatest hits barelly sold +50.000

Phil, the sound you hear is my heart breaking re your reply to my post.....thanks for the info. I'm hoping it's not accurate, but you sound like you know what you're talking about.....:(

Matt Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 09:18 PM EST

Considering M.I.A is set to give birth on Grammy night, don't hold your breath.

Luisa Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 08:07 PM EST

U2 would be great--I'd also love to see Adele.

Phil Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 04:52 PM EST

Corran, the next Leona Lewis U.S. single is "I Will Be", yes another snoozer of a ballad. I would have preferred "Forgive Me" too, but oh well.

Corran Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 04:09 PM EST

LEONA LEWIS!!! PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ! The artist who had the highest selling song of the year deserves to sing at the grammys. Promote an awesome new single, Forgive Me.

Alan of Montreal Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 02:56 PM EST

I'm pretty sure they'll ask Adele to perform. It's probably too much to ask, but I'd love to see M.I.A. perform Paper Planes. And Radiohead. And hey, how about someone from the Alternative Rock category?

Phil Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 02:33 PM EST

t....If you don't know by now, there is NO release date for Maxwell's next cd, "Black Summer's Night". I'm not sure where this rumor started that I'm assume is to capitalize on Valentine's Day when many of the R&B artists put albums out that were not released by the previous holiday shopping season, but let me be the first tell inform ya again, MAXWELL HAS NO STREET DATE. If he were coming out next montrh you'd have heard a single by now to promote the release, so if you are eagerly awaiting Maxwell's next release, give it AT LEAST 2 or 3 months from when you hear his new single, until then, keep rockin "Acension"...

Michael Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 02:15 PM EST

OMG Thom Yorke you are so f***ing hilarious it is simply way too much. Haha you don't care about selling records, thats priceless.

Thom Yorke Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 02:06 PM EST

If I performed at this tosser event, I'd blow all of your minds, not to mention making Chris Martin's head explode. But I won't, because I don't need publicity to sell albums. F**k you, record industry. I win.

t Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 02:00 PM EST

How about Maxwell? Isn't his cd dropping in February? Start praying now, M fans!

graeme Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 01:54 PM EST

I really truly hope Jason Mraz gets to perform on the show! I have been a die hard Mraz fan for years and have seen jason numerous times, and he is versatile enough to perform however (acousticly) or with whomever, since you know the Grammys are always thrusting weird mash-up collabos with current nominess & old school legends. Jason SO deserves SONG or RECORD of the YEAR for "I'm Yours". The song was released last March and is still in the Billboard top 10 this weke, & could possibly still sneak into the top 5 in its 40th week on the chart. He is a TRUE artist that deserves all the accolades, and hopefully some more sales to push "We Sing. We Dance. We Steal." past the platinum mark. There are a ton of great songs left on there that could be hit singles.

Another great idea would be to get ALL the new British songstresses on stage together: Leona Lewis, Adele and Duffy! Sing their own singles and then a classic old Motown song since its the 50th anniversary?

Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 01:43 PM EST

jason mraz doing a giant sing-a-long of "im yours"

STAN Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 01:38 PM EST

Margeaux you are the best!

mk Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 01:32 PM EST

Sounds like another boring show. Hate coldplay and jonas.

Lee Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 01:29 PM EST

I wonder if they'll dub Katy Perry's vocals while she's "singing"--just like Madonna. LOL. This is the state of American popular music: Katy Perry. We're in worse shape than I thought we were. In that case, bring in the musicians from the past, such as Bruce Springsteen, R.E.M., U2, Prince and Moby. Why weren't Springsteen or R.E.M's albums nominated for Album of the Year? They were ten times better than most of the nominees, including Coldplay and Radiohead. Grammys never get it right from choosing horrible performers like Katy Perry and not nominating Springsteen or R.E.M. for Album of the Year.

Jean Genie Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 01:27 PM EST

Stephanie, I don't know whether or not you believe in curses. But the Best New Artist award is a hard thing to live up to, so be happy your favorites didn't get it. Ever heard of Culture Club, for instance?

Speaking of CC, Katy Perry should milk it for all it's worth while her popularity lasts, since I consider her to be so like Boy George. Then again, they said stuff like that about Madonna back in the day ...

Jason Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 01:19 PM EST

Alicia Keys? Again? Really? Doesn't she perform at every awards show, nominated or not? I hope she and Beyonce stay far away. I need a break.

I prefer when they do pairings of artists. We have seen most of these artists perform their solo stuff numerous times. Bring on the collaborations!

Ceballos Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 01:16 PM EST

Even though they're not my cup of tea, I certainly don't hate them, but still:

Have the Jonas Brothers come across any live gig they can turn down. I know it's the Grammys, so it's a big deal, but still. It seems like I've heard them sing/screech (off-key) at every single awards show (and New Year's Eve Show...and "Dancing with the Stars" episode) in the last year.

Booyah Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 01:09 PM EST

Prince and U2 both have releases coming up in the next month or two. They're not up for any awards this year, but both would be phenomenal additions to the line-up.

stephanie Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 01:04 PM EST

Can we please at least get a performance from Kings of Leon and/or Death Cab for Cutie?! They finally get some recongition with their nominations - let's see them perform as well. I'm still disappointed about no nomination for MGMT or Vampire Weekend for best new artist - anyone with me on that one?

nathan Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 12:54 PM EST

My lord, this lineup keeps getting worse and worse. I hope something else is on TV that night.
