Weekend Rewind: Madonna, Kanye West, VH1's 'Charm School'

Madonnakanyesharon_lIn case you missed it, here's a quick look back at all the music news that caught my attention this weekend.

Booty call: Madonna slipped and fell flat on her bum during a concert in Brazil on Sunday night. But like a true professional, the 50-year-old pop star played it off by kicking her leg up in the air, rolling over onto her stomach, and hopping back up to her feet without missing a beat. See footage of her wipe out after the jump.

The heartbreak kid: Kanye West rocked the mic on Amy Poehler's farewell episode of SNL, performing "Love Lockdown" and "Heartless" from his latest CD, 808s & Heartbreak. Though the rapper's Autotune device failed to even out the imperfections in his unpolished singing voice, his overall performance was a dazzling portrait of an artist in pain, channeling his emotional breakdown into a brilliant creative breakthrough. View clips of both sets after the jump.

A hairy reunion: Sharon Osbourne, wife of Ozzy and host of VH1's Rock of Love Charm School, is being investigated by the LAPD as a suspect in a minor battery after allegedly opening up a can of whoop-ass on Megan Hauserman, a contestant on the show. The drama went down during the taping of the upcoming Charm School reunion special in Los Angeles on Saturday night. Hauserman reportedly set it off by telling Osbourne she's "only famous for managing a brain dead rock star." Osbourne retaliated by dashing across the stage and grabbing the Rock of Love reject's hair until security broke up the catfight, which led to Hauserman visiting the hospital yesterday and filing a report with the LAPD last night. Goodness gracious! Sounds like this is going to be the most vicious reality show reunion since Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Is Madonna singing OR dancing on her tour? That clip was kind of embarrassing...it was her walking around on stage? Yay?

Kanya is so overrated it's ridiculous. His new material is generic anything but brilliant and obviously cannot sing.

wontonjon Tue, Dec 16, 2008 at 08:56 PM EST

i used to like his stuff and all, but now i think kanye is just a douchebag. it used to be endearing, but now it's downright obnoxious

Smoochie Tue, Dec 16, 2008 at 08:14 AM EST

I figured his voice distorter wasn't working, but I think his performace was great. I felt it. And I like both songs. And Sharon Osborne is a no talent bag of plastic surgery. And Andrea, Kanye is a rapper and a "singer".

Andrea Tue, Dec 16, 2008 at 07:05 AM EST

And he is not a singer... he's a rapper. Inform yourselves

Andrea Tue, Dec 16, 2008 at 07:04 AM EST

You racist idiots Kanye West isn't from the ghetto.

Chad Mon, Dec 15, 2008 at 11:17 PM EST

Way not to mention the fact that Madonna only slipped and fell because it was pouring rain during her concert and the stage was soaking wet. You should be above this "Gotcha!" tabloid reporting... you purposely omitted that information because it makes the story more embarrassing and therefore more "interesting". If I wanted to read this kind of trash I would log on to US Weekly's website instead. You should be ashamed to stoop to this.

Kanye used to be so good. He just had to pick up that autotune under the pressure of becoming the best. (t-Pain, etc.) I hope the technical difficulties send him back to his awesome original state!

WTF, Miller? Mon, Dec 15, 2008 at 07:03 PM EST

Kanye grew up in the 'burbs, you racist schmuck.

Now I absolutely LOVE Sharon Osbourne. I've watched every episode of Charm School, and if there's one person who deserved to be put in her place it was Megan. She is one of the most horrible people on reality TV (and that's saying something).

Miller Mon, Dec 15, 2008 at 05:02 PM EST

I went an saw madonna in concert. She rocked it. Kanye needs to grow up. He is not happy with anything and always bitching about something. Kanye, go back to the ghetto

"...the rapper's Autotune device failed to even out the imperfections in his unpolished singing voice." Margeaux, what a PC way of stating that the guy can't sing.

Cindy Mon, Dec 15, 2008 at 03:48 PM EST

Why would anyone pay money to see Madonna? Just this short clip shows me enough to say she still has NO talent. She is just the queen of doing things considered outrageous for attention. Her musical ability always has been lacking.

Claire Mon, Dec 15, 2008 at 02:28 PM EST

I enjoyed Kanye's perforance. I love him, and I absolutely love Love Lockdown

Sorry but disagree anything was brilliant about Kanye's performance. He needs to go back to rapping and leave the singing to singers.
