Britney's 'Womanizer' video premieres on ABC's '20/20'

Categories: Music

Britneyspears_l3_2Seems like only yesterday I was backstage at the Pearl Theater in Las Vegas, playing hooky from my interview with Alicia Keys to spy on the impenetrable army of handlers gathered outside Britney Spears’ dressing room following her disastrous live performance of "Gimme More" at the 2007 MTV VMAs.

And yet here I am, a little more than a year later, playing hooky from dinner with friends in New York City to blog about her new music video for "Womanizer," the first single from her next CD, Circus (out Dec. 2), which premiered tonight on ABC’s 20/20. Directed by Joseph Kahn ("Toxic"), the clip finds the troubled pop star playing the vamp in a three-part role-playing fantasy -- there’s the corporate tease, the freaky waitress, and the horny chauffeur.

Though her body is on point (peep the strategically blurry nude scenes) and her wigs are tighter than that raggedy pink mop she often sported during her months-long meltdown, her dance moves remain stiff, and her digitally altered voice is no match for labelmate T-Pain’s Auto-Tune-enhanced vocal stylings. Of course, that never stopped folks from loving her in the first place, which means it’s unlikely to hinder her comeback. The verdict? You tell me.

Yeah, it was Listen 2 This. I liked those, but then they started not being exclusively about music, (they started to include video games & comic books too) http://hardwood-floor.emenace.com/brucehar62/16.html kitchen floor design undefined

I love Womanizer, and i love Britney! Go away haters. She may not be the most talentedi agree, but she's a good performer. She entertains us fans. Don't bring her down EW (youre always bringing her down with your blogs and posts) and some of the people here... C'mon haters can you even sing and dance?

Kris Munroe Fri, Dec 5, 2008 at 08:07 AM EST

All Britney Spears knows how to do is take off her clothes, jump up and down, lipsync to a pre-recorded track and she's # 1. Does anyone know what REAL talent is? Take off ALL electronic special effects and let see if she can sing for real. There are so many talented SINGERS out there that don't need to lipsync and have no need to take off their clothes to share their talents, but don't get the brakes that this glorified stripper gets. It is so sad that the music industry of this era has gone down so low.

Very nice site!

rihanna Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 07:05 AM EST

i can sing okay! and i think brit's great, too.

Way better than last year Tue, Nov 4, 2008 at 02:18 AM EST

she getting better and better...this video is sexy...and Christina's new video is kinda stupid...especially the cat woman suit...lol,and I always love Britney and Rihanna ....pls just dun compare them....

britney is hot Tue, Nov 4, 2008 at 02:15 AM EST

christina fans is angry is jealous and worry, cause Britney is back on top...and no one care for Xtina anymore, except the poor fans....=="...lol

domirican Wed, Oct 22, 2008 at 12:35 PM EST

R u serious?? some of u ppl are so stupid! i cant believe the things i have read here! i dnt remeber who it was, but i know somebody said that this is britney's comeback. ummm... no, its not. i like her song womanizer and loved gimme more wh it came out but to say that she' amazing, i wnt go that far! anfd whoever said that britney was better than rihanna is crazy! maybe you think rihanna cant sing live or that she cant dance... which is cool becuase u are entitled to your own opinion but to say that rihanna dnt got nothing on britney is bs! britney doesnt come near rihanna's number of hit songs! rihanna hasent even been put that long and she already threw britney out da window! and dont compare britney to christina aguilera.. or madonna! becuase like someone else said, it is an insult to madonna to even say that her and britney have something in common! madonna is a legend and britney is just one of those artist we can listen to when theres absolutly nothing else to do!she's pathetic!

Rayd Thu, Oct 16, 2008 at 03:13 PM EST

Rihanna cant sing and everyone knows it. Brit is not the best either but shes a true performer and she doesnt have to try too hard on-stage like Rihanna does. I'm so sick of her (Rihanna) she nothing but a fad. Her whole new image was nice but it was nothing but a scheme to help sell records.

Randra Wed, Oct 15, 2008 at 11:56 AM EST

Are you kidding, this is the same lame crap, everyone is over her and Mtvs pity party campaign will not help her, there is nothing new to learn about Britney, move on peops, singing is the new thing!

nan Wed, Oct 15, 2008 at 03:26 AM EST

Lol, it's absolute computer made crap. What is this girly doing? she's not singing, the computer is singing.

MICHAELHOLLYWOOD Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 06:50 PM EST

I love this video. Britney is on point here. Haven't you been to x17online? Britney's body is fierce now she doesn't need air brushing and the nude scenes in the vidoe looked real to me. Beyonce's video for "If I were a Boy" is better then her Single ladies because it looks like a deleted scene from "Get me bodied". Plus she's not single anymore. "WOMANIZER" is the best video this fall!

Jay Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 02:31 PM EST

Britney isnt the best singer or dancer in the world but she makes the best of what she does and has.
At first i hated this song thought it was rubbish but has been stuck in my head for days now so its not that bad but not as good as Gimme More, i am not a big big fan of Britney but she has always been around me through friends and other things and i always come to like her songs, its just all about having fun and nothing is wrong with that.
Brilliant video !

kandlefly Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 12:30 PM EST

Folks, truth be told the last great singer we have seen and heard was Withney Houston. Everybody after that, was just alright or bad. Britney, Rihanna and the rest just don't have it. Electronics and antics can only do so much.

Thumbs Down for Womanizer Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 09:21 AM EST

WOMANIZER is terrible. I'm past the stage where Britney's tricks to cover up her inadequency as a singer is gonna fly. She is trying hard to regain her physical and emotional help, and I'm praying she does. Womanizer seems so exploitative of that, and does nothing to enhance her credibility as a genuine artist. Let's hear her tackle an acoustic ballad, or sing something acappella. If she can pull that off without resorting to shaking her half naked behind, I'll give her some respect.

Getting Real Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 09:15 AM EST

This song STINKS!!!!! I wish her the best in her recovery, but this song is all that's wrong in pop music. There are talented artists dying to get their stuff out, to get it played and heard, and dreck like this song clogs up the charts. People are buying based more on sympathy and other factors - not because the song o is good, or because she has any real singing talent. Be Honest people - Britney cannot sing, and if it weren't for the gizmos and technology used now in the studios, she'd be laughed off most charts, and stages. It's time to get back to promoting and enjoying those artists who have what it takes, and Britney's time has passed.

britneyforever Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 08:14 AM EST

she CAN sing and she definately CAN DANCE.....!!!!!she is the best......and she is BACK!!!!the video was amazing.....and britney too...!!!just support her....she is trying to be out of trouble.....COME ON!!!britney for ever!!!!!

Wa3d Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 12:29 AM EST

Love the video...
go britney u r the best...

santol Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 09:00 PM EST

She can't dance, she can't sing, but this video wasn't all that bad, so that's saying something. Maybe I'm just saying this because like millions of hypocrites around the world, I support her only when she's on top, but she looks great in the video (it's all about the aesthetics) and either way, I'm happy for her that she's finally, FINALLY back.

blooper Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 08:46 PM EST

this video really is a comeback. im not even a real fan of brit but she looks great, the vide is great, and people need to realize that the song is catchy and cool too. she back and its awesome. btw rhianna cant sing ;) but she still cute

Stuckonstupid Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 06:28 PM EST

This whole message board is like Deja Vu! All of these Brit fans need a dose of reality. You guys were saying the same ole crap last year about how 2007 is her year, her album is going to sell millions, then it flopped, then they were making excuses, it will be the same this year, all hype, then Dec. 2, you guys will finally realize that Brit is just an old wash up who is still singing teeny songs when she is a few years from 30!!! Wake up idiots! No comeback is going to happen and quit comparing her to Madonna, that's an insult!

C83 Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 04:33 PM EST

Actually, I saw Rhianna earlier this year when she was on tour with Kanye and I can tell you unequivocally that really, she can't sing. Nor does she have ANY stage presence. In fact, the only time the crowd reacted positivley to her set was when Chris Brown came out and sand Umbrella with her. Does that mean I will not listen to or buy her music? Of course not... Today pop stars are a bigger part of pop culture than they are pop music... Think about it... Hilary, Britney, Rhianna etc. None of them have immense talent, just great producers, stylists, publicists and that lovely papparazzi to whom they owe so much...

bg Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 04:03 PM EST

It's not the greatest, but it's well done, for what it is. I mean, you don't expect great melody and lyrics from any pop song now-a-days. It's all about the overdubbing and beat. Britney's just a great pop star. Ever since her first two albums, that were produced by Max Martin, she hasn't had any really great songs, but this song is still OK.

Nikki Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 03:46 PM EST

Look people, we all knew that Britney couldn't sing, she never could. What she could do was put on one hell of a show, that's where she needs work. She's got to get that fire back.

Corinne Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 03:30 PM EST

Very much like "Toxic." The beat is good but couldn't they have done better than repeating the word "womanizer" over and over?

Classy Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 02:31 PM EST

Rihanna can sing ok. Britney can sing ok. The difference is Britney is a world-class performer/entertainer. Rihanna's just a pretty face. I love her style but she can't dance or do much of anything onstage. She'll probably never sell out a world tour as a headliner. This isn't me just trying to make Britney sound better...these are all facts.

Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 01:07 PM EST

well she still can't sing.. the lyrics suck... so i am not really seeing a difference from her other crap

siis Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 12:35 PM EST

Rihanna can't sing? Wow, it's amazing how people blatantly lie to help their favorite pop stars dominate the world. This generation of music fans scares the crap out of me. They obviously don't know the difference between a record deal and a dance deal, 'cause there's way more dancing than singing in Britney's world. Everybody here is rushing to give her a Grammy for what most sane people would accurately identify as fecal matter. It's no improvement over her previously overproduced ring tones. I mean, songs.

Kendra Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 12:23 PM EST

Haha I think I saw somebody on here say Rihanna has true talent?? Rihanna CAN'T sing and she CAN'T dance, she just has a really good production team. At least Britney puts on a show, Rihanna just stands and shakes an umbrella around.

LOVE the song and LOVE the video. Happy to see her back on her feet :-D

Stacey Bentley Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 12:04 PM EST

I LOVE WOMANIZER!! I love the song, I love the video!

BRITNEY IS BACK!!

<3 Stace

Scout Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 11:26 AM EST

Cut the girl some slack. If you got knocked up by KFed twice in one year, you'd have a mental breakdown too.

Keep rockin Brit - it's nice to turn on the radio and hear something that wasn't made by Timbaland.

Jessica Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 11:13 AM EST

It's funny to me some comments left are saying that it's not fair some artists "with actual talent" get over looked because of "talentless" people like Britney. I find that to be an ironic comment considering I can't think of one recent musician who has the amount of performing talent as she has. She can put up a show like no one else, and her voice may not be the best, but turn on your radio stations, it's far from the worst. She's the perfect combination.

Carlos Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 11:08 AM EST

The new video is pop at it's finest. The song is like a forbidden candy for the ears that you so badly try to not eat... but you can't help it. The music video has become almost irrelevant, but Britney is definitely bringing it back. To correct Watson, Britney has never been know to be a stiff dancer, and she has never been less than a decent singer... You clearly love what shes now doing, and thats okay. Enough with the back handed compliments.

c.e. Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 10:52 AM EST

From what I saw and can read from the posts here she just might be back. Since 50% love her and 50% don't. And since we're talking about just the music and not her life this is a good thing.

mark Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 09:51 AM EST

C-R-A-P !!
Can you not waste so much space for this no-talent has-been?!!

Justin Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 09:30 AM EST

First of all, the video is hot. The best video of '08 so far. She somehow always manages to outdo herself. The song is catchy and a great choice for first single, esp. because even the haters are talking about it.

Welcome back, Britney!

Which brings me to my next point, if some of you hate Britney then why do you always comment on her stories. Quit giving her attention if you don't like her...it's kinda funny.

kaf Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 09:01 AM EST

dlraetz, I totally agree! Womanizer gets STUCK IN MY HEAD! Maybe that means the song is successful...

Lee Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 08:25 AM EST

I have to confess I was disappointed. Brit's in better shape than she has been in a while, but the song is too repetitive, the dancing is nothing special and the steam room scenes appear to be thrown in as an excuse to show her nude. The electronics overpower her voice and the overall look is just, well, mediocre. She can do much better than this! The best part is the inherent irony of women sexually attacking men while chanting "Womanizer! Womanizer!"

hmm Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 07:58 AM EST

Everyone says she back but really! If i lost custody of my kids i would focus on that before i made a music video of me half naked in the shower! Clearly the girl still doest have her priorties straight and niether do the people around her, if they did they would focus on a mother trying to get her kids back

Samantha Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 06:29 AM EST

Love Britney's video, and I loved her last CD. She's really trying to get things together I'm very proud of her. I think dad needs to stick around as long as posssible....

dlraetz Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 06:20 AM EST

I would have like to hear less electronic voice and more of Brit's voice-but having said that-I can't get the darn song out of my head.

tami Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 04:41 AM EST

Although not a fan of Britney's music, I have to admit the video is pretty good. The song was just ok. Nothing special.

irwan Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 10:10 PM EST

don't even compare britney with rihanna..
rihanna is too far behind britney!!!!!

Marc Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 09:51 PM EST

It's good to see that Britney is recovering nicely from the problems she's had in the past couple of years. I believe her best work is yet to come, and this single and video may signal the beginning of a new era in her career. I agree that she is indeed an entertainer, but I would like to stress that she is not (yet) the Queen of Pop. That title still belongs to MADONNA, and will not be passed to Britney until Madonna either retires or dies. It has been, and will continue to be, interesting to watch Britney's rise through the ranks though. Who knows...maybe someday she will indeed be the Queen. For now, she makes a mighty fine princess.

Aethan Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 09:35 PM EST

All I have to say is...YES! We have our Britney back. I'm glad she is out of the clouds and back to where she belongs.

Aub Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 07:22 PM EST

Look, everyone knows she's not the greatest singer. She is an entertainer, she puts on a show. That's why people love her. And I think she is back, hopefully to stay! Go Brit Brit!

rachel Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 07:03 PM EST

honestly- if you had asked me last year what i thought of her...you wouldnt have wanted to hear my answer. Now that she seems to be cleaning up-I actually Like that song and a few others- WELCOME BACK!

kyle Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 06:03 PM EST

Honestly... Comparing to last year, she has done a decent 180..

No matter what she does or what people think, the public will always give her a 2nd chance....

Shes a young generation Madonna... No singing talent.. But she is a good entertainer... Kudos for that nonetheless...

Classy Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 04:56 PM EST

I love the video, but it is similar "Toxic". She is the Queen of Pop. This season is going to be all about her. She's already num.1 on Itunes. It's a wrap for those otha chix:-)

Matty Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 04:33 PM EST

The song is a horrible rip off of numerous 80's melodys (So Happy Together can be sung perfectly over this beat). The video though is kinda hot. The complete inverse to Gimme More from the last album.

Michael Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 03:57 PM EST

The song is beyond horrible. It is very sad when even the magic of computers and a producer can't give Britney a half-way decent voice. It is shameful and disgusting when there are so many beautiful voices that never get heard because they aren't naked in every video.

kyle Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 02:58 PM EST

first off, this song is good, video obviously directed by the same guy that did toxic, but good nontheless. now yes her voice is altered, so is kanye west in his new song (which sucks btw) its the state the industry is in. if you can sing, sing like rihanna or christina. if you can dance and your hot and can carry a tune, your an entertainer like britny and kanye.

ME Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 02:52 PM EST

Great video, I like it.

Sharlin Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 02:13 PM EST

The video reminded me too much of her Toxic video. Instead of shiny diamonds in her body, she's just naked now, lol.

peaches Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 01:46 PM EST

Awful video. People have such low standards these days. What happened to real talent?

Ezzie Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 01:09 PM EST

To those who say Britney's voice is digitally altered - I hope you guys are finding a T-Pain article and commenting about his voice as well. So face it - it happens. Those of you bothered by it should change their radio station and TV show preferences. Britney's comeback [ yes comeback ] shouldn't effect your living style to this degree. If it does then I suggest rehab :D

Loved Britney's video. Very catchy and highly entertaining.

kevin Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 01:06 PM EST

This video is soo nice and it really does a lot for britney... I love it 100%... goo britney

Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 01:02 PM EST

Loved the video! She looks so hot. My only wish was that there was more dancing.

For her next video I really want to see her showcase her dancing!

caron Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 12:28 PM EST

The video is very good. I like it.

Rob Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 11:59 AM EST

God, you guys fight like this is a unique phenomenon. Every generation has those who bring the powerhouse talent (Aretha Franklin,Etta James)and those who bring the good times (Diana Ross). One more time....every generation has those who bring the powerhouse talent (Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey) and those who bring the good times (Madonna, Janet Jackson). These artists should not be compared, that is pointless. The only question that needs to be asked or debated is whether each artist still succeeds at their job. A year ago Britney was not fun, she was sad and I was done with her. The new song and video are exactly what Brit was meant to do and as long as she just brings the fun, I'm willing to let her at it. Will I run out and buy it? No. But I know lots of people who will and since I view music as anything but a contest, that's cool with me.

Rose Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 11:58 AM EST

Rachel, you are 100% right, Britney has so much of the it factor it almost hurts. She's a star and I can't quite explain why.

Sara Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 11:49 AM EST

I think Britney looks awesome and healthy! Way to go Brit! I love it how all of these jealous, overweight, middle-aged women with average lives love to put beautiful Britney down when she's at a high in her career.

Tiara Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 11:28 AM EST

I Love Brit and im glad she's back on the right track (or getting there). I thought the video was fun. If your a woman you know that there is some truth to this song, plus its a great dance track. I agree that her dancing still isnt quite what it used to be but lets see any one of you go through a public meltdown and two years of media scrutiny and bounce back without faults....it will take some time. I'll always love and support B.

ken Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 09:16 AM EST

I guess the song is suited to teeny-boppers. Not a good song. Just another bland pop song thats not original. Music is suffering on the charts big time.

RayT Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 08:55 AM EST

When did 20/20 become the new TRL?

Em (to Rachel) Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 07:46 AM EST

Hi, Rachel. While I agree with most of your posting, I have to put up the hand for a reality check on the "more scandalous" bit. In this pop culture lifetime, she's got that heavy crown. That said, I wish her all the best, and I'm really glad she's been able to pick herself back up and show she's still relevent. Heck, I'm glad she's still breathing - the career comeback is just gravy!

Rachel Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 02:05 AM EST

It's crazy to see people bashing britney for having "too sexy" of a video and not the rest of the rauncher artists out there. I guess it still shows that shes the best. I remember when Christina Agularia came out with "Dirty", that video was way nastyier than "im a slave", yet britney got the slack for it. She's huge, people always have something to say abt her, good or bad. There are and have been people way more trashy, outrageous and scandleous than Britney, and on the flip side, there are way more classy and well put together artists out there than britney, yet they can't compete with her. She's got that "it" factor and people are just obsessed with her. From the start, whether she was on top of the world, hitting rock bottom and climbing back up, people ALWAYS have an opinion about her, they ALWAYS have something to stay. Its fascinating!

Muffy Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 02:01 AM EST

Wow, it's pretty easy to please the Britbots! Xtina has talent, Britney does not. Britney's still the no. 1 CHEERLEADER! LOL

Kendra Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 01:59 AM EST

Barb- Have you seen Madonna in concert recently??? Bc if that's cleaning up ones act to you, than Britney's a freakin saint! Secondly, yes the video was provocative, but so are many others out there, if not more so. Parents need to be the ones to instill morality in their children, not entertainers. I grew up listing to Madonna, Hip hop, grunge rock...But i always knew it was entertainment- I liked what they did, but never would I have even considered running around in a cone bra- masterbating just bc madonna did, never did i want to shoot anyone or resort to violenc bc thats what they talked abt in rap songs, never did i want to jump off and kill myself just bc thats what grunge rock suggested. I'm sick of parents and the rest out there blaming the media, this crap will always be out there... its freedom of speech and expression.

peaches Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 01:43 AM EST

The world is always quick to compare Britney to Madonna. The big difference is that Madonna has always had a clear point of view and personality while Brit is only as good as those she works with. That being said, this video is a success only because she worked with good people.

Master of the elements Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 01:42 AM EST

britney spears is the best!

To JJ Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 01:39 AM EST

[Okay. First off, I'm not a Britney 'Hater'.]
News Flash: Britney Spears and Madonna kissed.
Great artists sell millions, and great artists don't sell millions. Charts don't define how amazing an artist is.
And this is a board for people to share their opinions about her 'comeback'. So Britney 'haters' are entitled to their own opinion. Just as you are entitled to be a very obvious huge fan.
Chill.

:ou Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 12:18 AM EST

Karen -- I'm so SURE you just happened to be watching 20/20 and saw the video, and then took the time to post three or four comments about the video. Go sip on your Hatorade and watch the video again. And continue to enjoy the robotic glory of the queen B!

barb Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 12:12 AM EST

I would love my (late-teen) kids to have a 27 year old female role model, but one who has integrity, good character(someone who doesn't think she has to take her clothes off and slink around for the oogling eyes of people), no drugs or alcohol, and thinks and behaves like an adult twenty-seven with morals. Yes, she does influence young girls. And no, just because it is2008, doesn't mean young kids should dress, talk, behave like adults. Yes, the parents should instill good judgements in their kids when they are very young and continue this throughout their lives. I also believe parents are the best role models and should have the good sense to demonstrate this for the kids. I still like her and feel sorry for her at the same time. I hope someday she doesn't look back and regret how she "entertained" and lived her life.

t Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 11:37 PM EST

I thought that the "Womanizer" video was AMAZING! The song did take some getting used to, but now I am in love with it. I have it on repeat on my iPod for hours on end. The video is very much "Toxic II." I'm just so glad to see her coming back and she is clearly capable of returning to her former glory if "Womanizer" is any indication!!!

To all of those parents and other people who are complaining that Britney is a bad role model and her provocative behavior in her video is another bad message for kids, I don't know about you, but I sure don't want my kids' role model to be a 27 year old mother. What kind of creepy parents want their kids to look up to a "30 year old" and hope that they will/won't be influenced by that person...Britney is no longer 17, she is an adult with her own children...not a Miley Cyrus any longer. It's been ten years since she was that age so get over it and to all those creepy parents...try shooting for a role model that's a little closer to your kids' age...unless you're still trying to help your 25 year old daughter find a calling.

Anyways, Britney's video was amazing. She is a fantastic entertainer. She is no Kelly Clarkson or Christina Aguilera when it comes to vocal abilities, but she is one of the best entertainers in this ENTERTAINMENT industry in the past decade.

I'm not saying that Britney Spears is the most talented person on Earth, or by far the best role model, but it's just good to see her coming back. I mean, that has to be appreciated a little bit, right? She will be remembered years from now; maybe not for the right reasons, but she isn't someone the world can forget about easily. It's hard to believe she's only 26; when you look back at how much has been going on in her life since she popped up as a wholesome Mickey Mouse Club girl, she's still got so much life left to live.
I don't think this is the best direction for her to take her career down, but at least it's a one-up from all the drama of her personal life.

I knew someone would disagree with me. That's o.k. this would be a dull world if we all thought alike. But, why can't those who believe and "love" Britney, try to speak intelligently without all the slang, anger, defenseviness and attacking those of us who have our own opinions about the video? MY kids are taught morals, integrety, the difference between classy and degrading behavior. NO, they are not perfect! YES, they do know who Britney Spears is and they wonder why she always has the same expression on her face during performing, and why she has to resort to undressing to entertain? They really don't care for her. I like her, just not the direction she is going with her career. Can she sing ballads? Jazz? R&B? Classics? I don't think so. As an "entertainer" she is limited. Even Bett Midler,Madonna cleaned up their style of performing. Not because they got older, but because they have style, good character and are truly great performers and will be remembered years from now.

I thought the video was AMAZING! Britney looked incredibly HOT and BEAUTIFUL!

And as for EW's negative article(s) about Britney, don't worry folks, they are guaranteed to start sucking up to Britney because they are going to want to put her on their cover come December 2nd!

Give me the good old days when people became famous/idolized not because of the incessant media hype for a story, or because they have a fab bod, but because they had actual TALENT. Does anyone in this era have a clue what real talent is?? NO, because there isn't any out there. Ms. Spears is nothing. She truly has no talent and when her "fab" bod gives way to age, she will be nothing again. Jeer me if you want, I expect it because those who disagree with my views have nothing to compare her to, everything out there is crap nowadays. I feel sorry for all you who admire such a woman as her. The best talent does not rely on sex and smoke and colors.

lmao the thought of her going on American Idol just made me laugh. They would've laughed her off the stage and Randy wouldn't have kept it together. Imagine Simon's face! "That was horrendous" lol

Hey JJ, what's it like living without a brain? How long have you been dead, you mouth-breathing, navel-gazing idiot?

BRIT4EVER Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 09:03 PM EST

Oh and whoever wrote this article.

You need to calm down. Stiff moves are part of dancing. I'm sure ur the NO:1 dancer in the world to say that right. It just shows that u dont know any better!! HAHAHA get a life!!

Mr Orange Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 09:01 PM EST

I'm so sick of seeing this chick's blank, glazed, thousand-yard stare. If an intelligent thought ever stumbled into her empty head, it would immediately die of loneliness.

JJ Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 09:00 PM EST

Linda U are so stupid. U loser i wasnt talking abt her auditioning for anything. She was invited just to perform not to audition or whatever the hell u think it is.

Scott, another miserable hater..if she should get admiration then get the hell outta here..wht are u even doing here? Ur here to HATE??? ohh... OK i get it .. HATER!!! and ur the MORON..not her! have a nice day :P

aries Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 08:57 PM EST

lol her voice doesn't sound human. wtf?

aries Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 08:56 PM EST

lol

Scott Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 08:55 PM EST

The ongoing popularity/fascination with this witless, talent-free dim-bulb can only be attributed to one of two things: 1) some kind of weird mass hallucination, 2) the most enormous act of mass charity in history. This moron is simply uninteresting, both as a performer and a personality. And in the end, anyone who treats their own children as poorly as she does doesn't deserve any admiration of any kind.

Linda Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 08:54 PM EST

lol @ Simon Cowell. They would've booed Britney off the stage if she auditioned. She would've never made it to the next round. lmao imagine the expression on their faces after hearing her sing without studio enhancments. They would've laughed their asses off. Or maybe she would've busted a move or bared her chest on stage to make it. lol I love American Idol!

JJ Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 08:52 PM EST

hahaha yea tht right, I am quoting simon cowell. Infact he has Invited brit to perform on Xfactor and not ur xtina. Like i said xtina has a better voice than britney. I am talking abt their performances and fanbase. To us Britney's voice is beautiful and thats what matters. We love her, and always will. and the fact that she made all those mistakes on national television shows that she is a human being just like you and me. And just like most fans, i applaud her for making a second comeback after last years vma perfromance and all that happened before and after that. She is brave. I love her. And ur WRONG, the greatest artists DO sell millions. And Britney is one of them. DID u forget to mention xtina's kiss w/ madonna? and her new COMPUTERIZED song? and her lip-synched(horrible) performance at the vmas this year? And i honestly think since ur a hater its about time u get the hell outta here..go to some xtina site..haha I have a reason to stay..im a fan n ur not...so pls leave..hahaa

Jasper Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 08:44 PM EST

I think that Dec. 2 is Britney's B-day (I have this uncanny ability to remember b-days but not really a fan). But hey it worked for Beyonce so who knows. I guess the people who have always liked her crappy songs still will and what's wrong w/ that?

JJ Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 08:41 PM EST

And to those who think RIhanna has more top 10 hits in the U.S, i have a question. Did XTINA or RIHANNA or any new female artist sell as many records as Britney did? NO and will NEVER.hahaha she has sold wayyyyyy more than most female artists her age...so yea remember that. Yall haters dont even know britney to putting her down like that. Even Bebo Norman write a song titled - "BRITNEY" and that shows that even christian artists love and care about her. Her video is awesome. It is what all her devoted fans have been waiting for over 4 years..she is DEFINITELY BACK!! WELCOME BACK BRITNEY!! We missed you somuch!!

Elaine Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 08:38 PM EST

I wouldn't call a computerized voice singing.

To JJ Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 08:36 PM EST

You're quoting Simon Cowell?! Simon Cowell himself said that Christina has the best voice in the industry! He also said Beautiful is one of the best pop singles of all time. On x factor and even american idol he constantly compares people to Christina. And Britney's music is more commerical, Christina's music is lyrically driven, and not all about th fastest beat. Britney can't do anything without her producers and record company. Britney is a manufactured product. The GREATEST artists in the world don't sell the most. The ones that are on top of Billboard are the ones who have the catchiest beat. Thank God Christina's music is not about a catchy beat. She has talent and respect. And Dirrty? Do you still see her doing those music videos? She was 21. At least she grew up and has evolved as an artist. And I'm so happy Britney is the #1 tabloid queen. Britney is considered a joke. I'm so glad that Christina has stayed out of the tabloids. She doesn't need tabloids to keep herself relevant
