Brandy’s new CD postponed

Brandy_l_2There was a time when Brandy was R&B royalty. From 1994 to 2002, she led a charge of young urban pop princesses—which also included Monica and the late Aaliyah. Her first three albums earned multiplatinum sales and spawned seven Top 10 hits, including “Sittin’ Up in My Room” and “Have You Ever.”

But after a four-year detour into TV, film, and motherhood, the Grammy winner is running into some snags while she tries to resuscitate her music career, which stalled following 2004’s Afrodisiac. Her fifth CD, Human, was initially due out on Nov. 11 but has now been delayed until Dec. 9. And its first single, “Right Here (Departed),” is struggling to connect with listeners—it’s currently at No. 83 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

But despite those setbacks, a source close to the singer remains confident that her new CD will be well worth the wait: “She’s putting the finishing touches on some great songs and recently logged studio time with Timbaland in Miami.” That sounds promising. Let’s hope their work is as inspired as her sleek duet with John Legend (“Quickly”) on the dapper soul stirrer’s forthcoming disc, Evolver, out Oct. 28.

new single is fire. let's support it. all of the great ones are failing with their latest efforts. where is the industry going. Janet, usher, mariah, madonna, all have had less than stellar sales as of late.

God, it was crap that the extraordinary "Afrodisiac" bombed on the charts. I love "Right Here (Departed)." Maybe Brandy is too good for the 2000s, I dunno.

I love Brandy's new single. I truly hope success returns to her because she's a great artist. Afrodisiac is an extraordinary and underrated album.

She may have been involved in the accidential death of a women but so did Matthew Brodrick and I haven't heard of a boycott of his films. Grow up.

Wow, you are so ignorant. She may have "killed" someone, but it was an unfortunate accident and while no one shall forget the memory of the woman that passed, people still need to move on with their lives. Brandy has showed great remorse for the accident, but there is nothing more she can do, so she needs to move on with her career. I love Right Here (Departed), as well as her new single Long Distance, and I am very much so looking foward to her new CD Human! She is definitely on her way back to the top in my opinion!

Shes truly the "B" In R&B music. The game needs to embrace her back because music in general is going down hill. I'm confident that Brandy is going to save R&B with this new album. Her 2nd single, "Long Distance" (produced by darkchild) will be premiering on Wednesday, October 15th.

Brandy, you are worth the wait. You've been missed. I love your voice. Work it out and get it right.

I have to say, Brandy's music has always been a cut above, she takes risks, and sometimes that hurts her with radio, but the music is always stellar. She truly has a unique voice - whenever I hear her, those not guess who is singing, you KNOW it's Brandy. I adore that voice.
